Apolipoprotein A1

Typical unit g/L

The main protein on HDL particles; part of advanced cholesterol profiling.

What it is

Apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1) is the major structural protein of HDL. It complements HDL-cholesterol rather than replacing it.

Why it matters

Interpreted with Apo B, lipids, and overall cardiovascular risk, not as a single pass/fail number.

This guide is educational only and cannot diagnose you. Discuss results, especially anything outside your laboratory’s reference interval, or that does not match how you feel, with a GP or other appropriately qualified clinician.

How it affects the body

Apo A1-containing particles participate in reverse cholesterol transport.

For athletes

Endurance training can favour healthier lipid patterns; Apo A1 is still read in risk context, not as a trophy metric.
