Allergy Blood Test (ALEX 3.0)

ALEX 3.0 IgE multiplex: about 295 allergen markers plus total IgE. Not a food intolerance test. Results need clinical interpretation.

Searching for a wide private allergy blood test beyond a short allergen list? ALEX 3.0 is a specialist multiplex IgE screen covering about 295 allergen markers plus total IgE in one order. It measures allergen-specific IgE (extracts and components) across common type 1 allergy sources such as pollens, mites, pet dander, moulds, insect venoms, foods, and latex. Familiar examples include house dust mite, cat and dog dander, grass and birch pollen, cow's milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, shrimp, and insect venoms.

This is an allergy (IgE) screen only. It is not a food intolerance test. Intolerances are usually non-IgE (for example enzyme or digestive issues) and will not show on this assay. Specific IgE indicates sensitisation, not a confirmed clinical allergy on its own. Discuss results with a qualified clinician before changing diet or treatment. Skin-prick follow-up is often used when symptoms and results need joining up.

No fasting is required. You do not need to stop antihistamines for this blood test (unlike many skin-prick protocols). This is a premium specialist assay, not a routine wellness panel. Results land in Console.

Turnaround time

Results typically land in 5 working days once the laboratory receives a usable sample. Most routine biomarkers are released the same or next working day, and each marker appears in Console as soon as it completes clinical validation, so you are not waiting for the slowest marker to see the rest.

A typical timeframe, not a guarantee: the clock starts at sample receipt, not at order or postage, and postal or transit delays can occasionally extend it.

FAQs

Is this a food intolerance test?
No. ALEX 3.0 measures IgE (allergy / type 1 hypersensitivity). Food intolerances are usually non-IgE and will not be detected by this screen.
Does a positive result mean I have an allergy?
Not on its own. Specific IgE shows sensitisation. Scores help show the size of the IgE response; a clinician should interpret them with your symptoms. Follow-up skin-prick testing is often used when needed.
What does the panel cover?
About 295 allergen markers plus total IgE. Common examples include house dust mite, cat and dog dander, grass and birch pollen, cow's milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, wheat, soy, shrimp, insect venoms, and latex, plus many more extracts and components.
Do I need to stop antihistamines or fast?
No. Fasting is not required, and antihistamines should not affect this blood IgE test the way they can affect skin-prick testing.
Why is this priced above other panels?
You are paying for specialist allergy multiplex breadth (about 295 markers plus total IgE), not standard chemistry markers.
